Women's Trauma Survivors Group in Santa Monica, CA

Tuesdays 5:30-7:00PM

This group is for women who want to break old patterns and heal from the past.

The terms trauma, abuse, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are often used interchangeably. Sometimes people use the word trauma to describe an event, or to describe a response to an event. PTSD is oneway of responding to trauma.

Symptoms of PTSD include:

Re-experiencing- Disturbed sleep, intrusive memories, flashbacks, distressing dreams, nightmares, reliving the event, a view of the world as unsafe.

Numbing and Avoiding- Mistrust of others, isolation and disconnection, emotional numbness, low self-esteem, ability to remember events of feelings but not both, memory loss for certain events, loss of faith and hope.

Hyperarousal- Intense emotions, difficulty sleeping, panic and anxiousness, self-harm, risky behaviors, irritability, anger, difficulty concentrating

These symptoms relate to the nervous system being stuck on high or stuck on low, members will learn somatic mindfulness to help regulate their nervous system. We will be working in the here and now to uncover patterns that are no longer helpful, and to develop new ways to thrive. The group is based on the principles of relational therapy, offering a blend of somatic psychotherapy, family systems, and mindfulness.  Feel free to call me at 310-319-6500 for more information.
