Learn how to navigate through grief with the help of therapy

Grief confuses us by spinning us around to face backward, because memories are all we have left,
but of course it isn’t the past we mourn when someone dies; it’s the future.
— Kathryn Schulz author of Lost and Found

You don’t have to “get over it”

We live in a culture where people reward you for “getting back to normal” as opposed to allowing you the time and space you need to feel your feelings. Grief can be an isolating experience. It can seem like the world is moving on with life while you are trudging through overwhelming feelings of loss.

How do our bodies react to grief?

Grief affects or brains and bodies, we may have trouble eating or sleeping.  Or in the opposite case we may find ourselves overeating and sleeping more than we usually do.

How can therapy help?

Sometimes friends and family mean well but they may not be able to offer you the amount of support you need during this time. Having a place to share these feelings on a regular basis can help you feel less alone in this process, and somatic therapy can help you feel more regulated during this challenging period.

A little bit more about mY work as a therapist:

I work with therapeutic models are resource and wellness-oriented, such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and NARM.

These forms of psychotherapy are non-pathologizing.  Instead, the emphasis is on helping you re-establish connection to your body and to the parts of you that are organized, coherent and functional.

In my work as a therapist, I specialize in helping people who are experiencing grief and loss. It’s a process we all go through, yet our society avoids talking about it. If you are experiencing grief & loss there is a depth of pain that is difficult for others to understand. My practice is a place where we can work together to help you identify and process what is keeping you from having the kind of life you desire. You’ll learn how to put your thoughts and feelings and sensations into words, regulate your nervous system and re-connect with yourself.

Many of my clients transition from individual therapy to group therapy, and this experience can be so powerful that members start behaving differently outside of the group.

I offer in-person therapy in Los Angeles, and online individual and group therapy in California. I’m also licensed in New York and Texas.
